Build the box around the complete empty bottle
Capacity alone cannot define a perfume box. A 50ml bottle can be tall and narrow, low and wide, square, round, or sculptural. The pump, collar, cap, label, and decoration add to the final height, width, depth, weight, and contact points. Packaging should therefore be planned from the finished empty bottle assembly or a reliable dimensional sample.
If a customer already owns the bottle, clear measurements and photographs can begin the review. For a coordinated bottle and packaging project, the selected bottle and components should be confirmed before the final dieline and insert are approved. This sequence protects cap clearance, product removal, presentation, and transit protection.

Use an existing structure as the development base
An existing structure means a proven style such as a folding carton, lid-and-base box, drawer box, or magnetic book-style box that can be reviewed for the project. Dimensions, materials, print, and finish can still change. This approach reduces structural development compared with inventing a new opening mechanism or presentation system for a small run.
It does not mean every box is continuously in stock or that every dimension can be produced at the same quantity. Board thickness, paper, construction method, print setup, finishing, and supplier conditions affect feasibility. The review identifies a structure that is proportionate to the bottle, quantity, and intended presentation.

Match the insert to the bottle and components
The insert controls how the bottle sits in the box and how it is removed. Depending on the reviewed structure, options may include paperboard, EVA, foam, molded pulp, or another available solution. Material choice should consider bottle weight, contact surfaces, cap retention, protection, presentation, and the required quantity.
A special molded insert or unusual mechanism may introduce tooling and a higher practical minimum. For a 300–500 set project, an adaptable existing insert method is normally more proportionate. A structural sample can confirm fit before printed packaging is completed, especially when the bottle and cap create an unusual center of gravity.

Select printing and finishing with setup in mind
Printed color, hot stamping, spot UV, embossing, debossing, textured paper, lamination, and soft-touch finishes each create a different setup and sampling route. A visually restrained package with one controlled finish can communicate a premium position more effectively than several poorly coordinated processes.
Artwork should account for folds, seams, panel direction, insert position, and the way the customer opens the box. Foil and embossing require suitable line weights and placement. Surface materials can affect color and adhesion. These decisions need sample confirmation and can change the workable quantity and cost even when the box structure already exists.

Coordinate the parts before final assembly
Bottle, pump, collar, cap, box, and insert may follow different production and finishing steps. Final assembly depends on each part arriving in the approved condition and fitting the confirmed specification. A small-batch project therefore includes more than ordering a bottle and a box separately.

Plan samples, fees, and delivery together
A plain structural sample, printed sample, insert sample, and decorated bottle sample may have different purposes. The required sequence depends on the project risk. Sample fees and logistics costs are confirmed before samples are prepared or shipped. They should be included in early planning rather than treated as an unexpected addition after artwork is complete.
Final delivery planning uses the packed carton size, gross weight, quantity, destination, and timing. Rigid packaging can create more shipping volume than a folding carton. That tradeoff should be considered alongside presentation and protection. No fixed freight cost or delivery time can be confirmed from the page alone.

Recognize requests outside the 300–500 set route
A completely new multi-part opening mechanism, highly specialized molded insert, unusual moving structure, or extensive combination of manual and specialty finishes may not be proportionate at 300–500 sets. The same applies when the packaging depends on a bottle or cap that has not yet been technically developed.
In those cases, the right next step is a standard packaging or complete-set review, not a promise that the small-batch route will work.
